Tell Your Representatives to Increase Foreign Aid Oversight

The Project On Government Oversight (POGO) is making it easy to support greater transparency for foreign aid. Use POGO’s tool here to urge your representatives in the Senate and House to support the bipartisan Foreign Assistance Transparency and Accountability Act of 2013 (S. 1271/ HR 2638). The bill, if enacted, would keep the billions of US foreign aid sent to security forces in the public eye.

National Security Archive Reveals New Area 51 Docs; CIA Role in Iran Coup

A newly declassified CIA history of the U-2 program, obtained through FOIA by the National Security Archive, included documents providing details about the famed Nevada testing site Area 51. Read more about the documents obtained about the archive here.

Another batch of documents uncovered by the National Security Archive includes details about a covert U.S.-led operation to overthrow Iranian Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadegh and his cabinet in 1953. All references to TPAJAX, the code name for the operation, were redacted in versions of the documents previously released.
