On April 20, OpenTheGovernment.org joined more than 130 openness, library, and educational groups and institutions in urging the Senate to quickly vote to confirm Dr. Carla Hayden as the next Librarian of Congress. The letter argues that her skills and experience are necessary to fostering the crucial modernization and technological change the Library of Congress must undergo to meet the demands of the 21st century.

On April 26, OTG joined several groups in a second letter reaffirming support for Dr. Hayden’s confirmation, and for promoting greater transparency for the Library of Congress, including making Congressional Research Service reports open to the public.
