Openness groups support bill to increase disclosure of federal contracts

On March 16, OTG joined a coalition of public interest groups in a letter supporting the Contractor Accountability and Transparency Act of 2017 (S. 651), introduced by Senator Claire McCaskill. The bill would increase transparency around federal contract spending, by requiring that more information about federal contracts be published and made accessible on USASpending.gov.

The letter points out that increased disclosure of federal contracting information would improve competition and reduce FOIA backlogs.
