Library Groups Thank GPO for Providing Public Access to Government Information During Shutdown

Several of’s partners, the American Association of Law Libraries, American Library Association, Association of Research Libraries, and Special Libraries Association wrote to the Government Printing Office in appreciation for their services during the government shutdown. The GPO kept its website accessible during the shutdown, unlike many federal agencies. As the letter notes, “the shutdown demonstrated GPO’s critical role in ensuring the full electronic life cycle of digital content, from harvesting and cataloging to permanent public access and preservation.” The American Association of Law Libraries is providing a platform for the public to share with Congress how the shutdown impacted access to government information here.
