The Open and Responsive Government Act: A bill aimed at putting the public’s interest ahead of corporate interests by restoring access to information the government collects from private companies. The bill also addresses the Environmental Protection Agency’s revised FOIA regulations which went into effect without the legally required public notice and comment period, and which appear to allow officials to withhold portions of documents as “not responsive” to a FOIA request, despite a federal court ruling forbidding the practice.
