Open The Government (OTG) is pleased to announce Virginia Kase is its newest steering committee member. Kase has served as the chief executive officer of League of Women Voters since 2018, where she led the 100-year organization through a period of rapidly expanded litigation and organizing efforts to ensure voting rights for all.
“We are honored to welcome Virginia to our steering committee,” said OTG’s Executive Director Lisa Rosenberg. “Her knowledge, expertise, and commitment to an inclusive democracy for all will be invaluable as OTG continues to expand our coalition to address critical threats to transparency and accountability in our government.”
Prior to joining the League, Kase served as Chief Operating Officer of CASA, an organization at the forefront of the immigrant rights movement, representing nearly 100,000 members. In that role, Kase managed the strategic growth, direction, and operations of the organization.
In joining the OTG Steering Committee, Kase is one of 12 leaders at a cross-section of government accountability organizations that provide ongoing strategic and tactical advice to the organization on advancing policy initiatives that create a more open and accountable government.
“I am honored to join the esteemed steering committee of OTG because the organization’s mission strongly reflects our shared values of active participation in government as a means to strengthen our democracy,” said Kase. “Transparency in government is particularly critical as we see democracy in action around the country in the form of nationwide protests demanding racial justice and comprehensive policing reform. The League stands with OTG as partners in demanding accountability from all elected officials.”
