Coalition Urges DOJ to Improve Data Reporting on Police-Civilian Encounters

In a letter sent today to Assistant Attorney General Karol Mason, joined the ACLU, the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, and 80 other organizations to call for improved data collecting on police-civilian encounters.

The letter makes the following requests:

  • Condition federal criminal justice grants on data collection and reporting on police-civilian encounters
  • Issue regulations on the implementation of the Death in Custody Reporting Act (DCRA)
